Palekh (Russian: Палехскаяминиатюра) is a very refined technique in Russia. It uses varnish paint (LKM) to paint on the surface of the product in a uniform thin layer of liquid and forms a durable film after drying. This is the paint used by Palekh. The unique and subtle art of Palek’s miniature lacquer incorporates the principles of ancient Russian painting and folk art as a basis. To make paint, natural materials are used: minerals that act as pigments (for example, red clay, cadmium, Siena, Volkonskoite, etc.) are mixed with water, vinegar and egg yolks.
