Joshua 18 : 1, 10

It had been a long time since Joshua led the Israelites into Canaan.
All the Israelites gathered at Shiloh and set up the Tent of Meeting there. They had finally subdued the land and could rest awhile. However, there were still seven tribes among the Israelites that had not yet received their inheritance.
“The God of your ancestors has given you this land, so, why haven’t you done a thing to take over any land?” Joshua asked the Israelites. He then sent people to explore and measure the remaining land and draw a map of it. When they got the map, they drew lots before God, and divided the land among the tribes who had not yet received their inheritance.
God’s ways often surprise us. From a human perspective, a gift should be received without having to work for it. However, God often wants us to do our part before receiving and enjoying the gifts and blessings in store for us.
The inheritance that some of the tribes had yet to receive is often comparable to life’s hidden treasures. Because of our laziness, these treasures may never come to light. In reality, happiness is like treasures that have long since been planted somewhere in our lives. They are merely waiting to be dug up.
