God’s glory radiated before Moses and God said to Moses, “I am the LORD - your God. I brought you out of Egypt, the land of slavery.” Then, God gave the Israelites the Ten Commandments in order to protect their lives:
1. Do not worship any gods except Me.
2. Do not make any idols for yourselves.
3. Do not use the name of GOD your God irreverently.
4. Observe the Sabbath day and keep it holy.
5. Honor your father and your mother.
6. Do not murder.
7. Do not commit adultery.
8. Do not steal.
9. Do not tell lies about others.
10. Do not lust after anything belonging to other people.
Moses climbed down from Mount Sinai carrying the two stone tablets with God’s law engraved on them. He was unaware that his face shone because he had been speaking with God.
People often wonder what they must do to have good morals and clean hearts so that they can become successful and honorable people. Moses’ face shone from God’s glory, but he did not know it.
“God blesses those who delight in God’s laws and meditate on them day and night. They are like trees growing beside a stream, trees that produce fruit in season and always have leaves.” (Psalm 1 : 2-3)
There are no shortcuts in life. We reap what we sow.
