The Israelites camped below Mount Sinai. God told Moses to come up to the mountain. The Almighty said, “I’ll give you tablets of stone upon which I'll write My rules and regulations. You must teach these laws to the people.”
When Moses climbed up the mountain, a cloud covered the mountain because the glory of God had settled over Mount Sinai. The cloud covered the mountain for six days. On the seventh day, God called out to Moses from the cloud. The view of God’s glory resting on the mountaintop was like looking at a raging fire.
What is it like to enter into the clouds, meet with God, and listen to the sound of God’s voice? God is a hidden God and no one can see the Holy One’s face and live. However, God’s chosen people always passionately seek God’s face and God’s will with fear and trembling so that they will know how to behave in this world. We must be holy because God is a holy God. The Most Holy One will not tolerate being treated with contempt.
Moses climbed the mountain and entered into the cloud. He stayed there for forty days and forty nights. God did not hide anything from him.
Speak, Lord. I will listen attentively and obey with all I’ve got!
