Joseph was a slave in Egypt. His master became very fond of him when he saw that everything Joseph did went well because God was with Joseph.
Joseph was very handsome. His master’s wife was infatuated with him. On several occasions, she even said to him, “Come into my bed!” But Joseph never responded to her requests and carefully avoided sexual temptations.
One day, Joseph went into the house to run an errand. There was no one in the house. Suddenly, the master’s wife appeared out of nowhere and tugged at Joseph’s cloak. “Come into my bed!”, she said. Leaving his cloak in her hand, Joseph ran out of the house.
The master’s wife was enraged! She falsely accused Joseph of sexual assault before her husband. Upon hearing these accusations and without even investigating the truth, the master sent Joseph to jail in his fury.
Joseph was merely avoiding the sexual temptations of a young man. After all, his master trusted him and had given him much power. Under these circumstances, it would have been very easy for Joseph to give in to his fleshly desires, manipulate everyone, and take advantage of his good luck. However, Joseph would rather offend his master’s wife and go to jail than disobey God’s commands and disregard his faith.
However, God’s children are never alone. God is with them even when they are in a cold and damp cell.
