15 . #Abraham receives angels

God appeared to Abraham at the Oaks of Mamre. It was the hottest part of the day and Abraham was sitting at the entrance of his tent. He looked up and saw three men standing across from him. As soon as he saw them, he ran ahead to greet them and asked them to stay at his house. He poured water for them to wash their feet and asked them to relax under the shade of a tree. Abraham also took bread and roasted a nice and tender calf for them to eat. He replenished their bodies and souls so that they could go on their journey with renewed strength.
“Since you've come to your servant’s house, you should rest awhile,” Abraham said. At the time, he didn’t know that the guests he was hosting were manifestations of God. He was merely following the Middle-Eastern traditions of his time regarding hospitality when he generously welcomed a group of tired travelers.
However, Abraham’s natural and simple gesture brought him good news. He and his wife would have a son about this time the following year! Yes, this would take place even though Abraham was very old and his wife Sarah had stopped menstruating since she was past childbearing age.
It is very important to treat guests generously. Abraham entertained angels unknowingly.
